Plantar Fasciotomy

Knowing What to Expect

Preparing for surgery can feel overwhelming or scary if you don’t know what to expect. You may have some unanswered questions and worries that make you feel this way. Knowing what to expect will help you feel less nervous and more in control.

An endoscopic plantar fasciotomy is a surgery used to treat plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is a disorder that causes pain in your heel and the bottom of your foot. The plantar fascia is tissue located on the bottom of your foot.

When it becomes inflamed due to injury, infection or being over used, pain will occur. In the endoscopic plantar fasciotomy, the surgeon will make a small incision in the skin of your foot, and insert a thin tube. The tube is then used to see and release the fascia.

The procedure should relieve the pain caused by plantar fasciitis.
