A bunionectomy is a surgery used to remove a painful bump on the toe called a bunion. Bunions are normally caused by misalignment or enlargement of bones of the big toe pressing against neighboring toes.
A tailor’s bunion is a deformity that effects the little toe on the outside of the foot. For a tailor’s bunionectomy, it can either be corrected by chaving off the excess bone, or cutting the bone and realigning it, then fixing it in place.
You will most likely be given a shoe to wear following surgery, and it is usually recommended that you limit the amount you are walking while the foot is healing.
