Nasal Septal Reconstruction is a surgery used to straighten the nasal septum.
The septum is the sheet of bone and cartilage that separates the two nostrils. The septum is supposed to be in the center of the nose, creating two equally sized nostrils, but when it is deviated (or crooked/misshapen), it can make breathing through the nose more difficult.
With Nasal Septal Reconstruction, the surgeon will realign the septum by removing or reshaping parts of the bone or cartilage framework to allow better airflow.
This is done through a small incision inside the nose. Typically there is no bruising or swelling that is visible after the surgery.
